Brainstem evoked response hearing test measures how well your brain processes the sounds you hear. The BAER test records your brain waves in response to clicks or other audio tones played to you. The test is also called Brainstem Auditory Evoked Potential or Brainstem Auditory Response Test.
A BAER test can help diagnose hearing loss and nervous system disorders, especially in newborns, infants, and others who cannot participate in a standard hearing test.
BAER testing is commonly performed on dogs and is the only scientifically reliable way to assess a dog's ability to hear with one or both ears.
